Medical dispensary or hemp dispensary? Know this first

"Dispensary" means two different things in Florida, and the difference decides where you're allowed to shop.

• Medical marijuana treatment centers (MMTCs) like Trulieve, Curaleaf, and MÜV sell state-regulated medical cannabis. You need an active Florida medical marijuana card from the Office of Medical Marijuana Use to buy anything. Florida voters turned down recreational marijuana in 2024, so a card is still the only way into these stores.
• Hemp-derived dispensaries like The Plug Miami sell products made from hemp. Florida treats them as legal under Section 581.217, Florida Statutes when they test at or below 0.3% delta-9 THC. You need to be 21+ with a valid photo ID, and no medical card is required.
